Emptiness – Corina knew the experience well. As she entered the room overlooking the sea, a cool mist floated through the open window sweeping over her bare arms and face. He was gone. Her stubbornness drove him away. Unwilling to chip away the concrete that encapsulated her soul, she tried his patience. Leaning on the windowpane, Corina made friends with the stagnant emptiness of the room. She began to fill the cracks of her heart with callous indifference, reinforcing the fortress surrounding it. Love would not enter nor leave her heart today.
Emptiness

Love this piece, Jill.

Thanks, Julie. I don’t have much time to write these days, but I wanted to get something down on paper (or screen).

Poignant! We have all built walls to protect our hearts. A reminder to lighten up and open up!

Exactly! You can’t find love and happiness until and unless you’re open to it.
